ARABSAT welcomes euronews in Arabic

This launch will complement Arabsat’s diversified news channels line-up

with a qualitative European view on news.

Riyadh, July10^th, 2008.

Arabsat is pleased to announce that euronews, the leading pan-European news channel, will broadcast its 7-language versions and also the all-Arabic 8^th version to be launched in the next days, over the Middle East, North Africa and sub-Saharan regions on its 26° East video “Hot Spot”.

With this long-term contract for space capacity on Arabsat's BADR-4 and brand new BADR-6 satellites, euronews will enjoy a direct access to an Arabic audience of more than 164 Million viewers watching the BADR constellation of satellites in digital, from the Maghreb countries to the Gulf, to Levant, Egypt and Sudan, as well as to sub-Saharan Africa in analogue taking advantage of its widely extended C-band footprint.

A universal channel by construction, euronews has made its name among the international news channels since 1993 as it leads the European market in audience and distribution despite increasing competition. In this era of the "citizen journalist", euronews has adopted the crucial task of ensuring every citizen-viewer is quickly made aware of the facts he needs to form his own opinion of the world.

Starting July 12^th, 2008, euronews Arabic language service will be distributed and broadcast over the whole Arab world via Arabsat's BADR satellites where it will join a bouquet of 240+ Free-to-Air TV channels and 90+ radio stations available from the BADR constellation of satellites co-located at its 26°East video "Hot Spot".

يسر مؤسسة عربسات أن تعلن أن قناة الأخبار الأوروبية الرائدة Euronews سوف تبث خدماتها بسبعة لغات مختلفة بالإضافة إلى خدماتها الجديدة باللغة العربية في الأيام القليلة القادمة لتغطى منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا ودول جنوب الصحراء الإفريقية على موقع عربسات الساخن 26 درجة شرقا للبث المرئي.

وبفضل العقد طويل المدى مع عربسات لشغل حيز فضائي على قمر بدر4 وبدر 6 – الذي يعد احدث أقمار عربسات – فان قناة Euronews سوف تتمكن من الوصول مباشرة إلى أكثر من 164 مليون مشاهد عربي يشاهدون البث الرقمي لمجموعة أقمار بدر من بلاد المغرب العربي غربا إلى دول الخليج العربي شرقا مرورا بمصر والسودان بالإضافة إلى البث التماثلي لدول جنوب الصحراء الإفريقية وهى بذلك تتمتع بميزة التغطية الممتدة للنطاق الترددي سى باند.

إن القناة العالمية Euronews  قد حققت مكانة متميزة في صدارة قنوات الأخبار العالمية منذ 1993 حيث أنها في مقدمة السوق الاوروبى من حيث نسبة المشاهدين أو التوزيع على الرغم من المنافسة المتزايدة . وفى عصرنا هذا "عصر المواطن الصحفي" فان Euronews قد أخذت على عاتقها مهمة التأكد من أن كل مشاهد يجب أن يكون على دراية أولا بأول بكافة الحقائق التي يحتاج إليها لتكوين وجه نظر في الأحداث العالمية.

ويبدأ بث خدمات الEuronews باللغة العربية بدا من 12 يوليو 2008 م لجميع أنحاء العالم العربي عن طريق مجموعة أقمار بدر الخاصة بعرب سات حيث ستنضم إلى الباقات المتوفرة على مجموعة أقمار بدر الفضائية الموجودة في الموقع الساخن على الدرجة 26 شرقا للبث المرئي.
